You cite a few motivators for drinking that extend beyond yourself, but in discussing the benefits of abstinence, you discuss only how it benefits you personally (I.e. better sleep, clear skin). Now that you have more cognitive space, are you directing your energy to dismantling the inequalities that you say caused you to drink in the first place? If not, I gently suggest this is a waste of one’s sobriety. You seem to recognize that you live in a bit of a privileged bubble, but the additional resources you now have *could* be used to act in solidarity with those for whom “wine mama” (and all that comes with it) is a foreign term. Just saying’
