Wow the responses to this article are abysmal. Of course capitalism relies on racism. More specifically, imperialism and settler-colonialism have always necessitated framing racialized others as physically, mentally, and morally inferior to justify institutionalized violence (including chattel slavery). Economic systems in theory are irrelevant outside of how they’re implemented in practice. Being purposefully obtuse about that won’t get us anywhere.
