This is ableist as hell. Conflating idiocy with insanity suggests that every Mad person possesses the vile traits you describe in this (very poorly researched) article. I happen to be clinically insane (and I have the PTSD to prove it). Most Mad people are hyper empathetic because we’ve experienced unfathomable trauma. This article does nothing but reinforce that racism, capitalist delusion, and every other structural factor that produces American exceptionalism is an individual sickness. In so doing, it perpetuates harm against Mad folk (who generally don’t possess these traits) and normalizes discrimination against us. This uh, treatise of yours is simplistic, reductive, and has virtually no nuance.
