The dominant narrative around autism is that we’re tragic, helpless, incapable of voicing our needs, etc. That is the “borg-like” mentality you’re referencing. I responded based on my experience having come from a family with a mother who believed this, and who later became so enraged when I asserted myself that she sent me to a homeless shelter. No one is trying to undermine your perspective because it is *the* perspective among neurotypicals. This is a weird hill to die on.
