Thanks for this. I try to subvert diet culture in mundane ways whenever possible, and it’s always disheartening to be re-reminded how radical doing so still is. As someone who has lived with severe eating disorders since age 7, and who also benefits from thin privilege, sometimes this takes the form of outing myself (I.e. a cheery, “oh I don’t have willpower/eat well, I just binge and purge for hours in private!). Obviously there are moments where this isn’t a viable response (like at work), but it does destabilize the narrative that thinness = health.
