Schizophrenia doesn’t have biomarkers, and the vast majority of those who receive this diagnosis are poor and racialized (this hasn’t always been the case, but I suggest looking into “protest psychosis” during the civil rights era and its predecessor, drapetomania, for insight into how the psy complex functions). In other words, distinctions between CPTSD and schizophrenia are nebulous and subjective. The latter is mostly leveraged as a form of social control against oppressed groups, though many of us have united to reject pathologization (ie the hearing voices network, the anti psychiatry and consumer/ex-patient/survivor movements, Mad Studies).
