Not to mention that for some (myself included at times) “healthy” choices lead to weight gain. Fatphobia oppresses fat people, and I am in no way drawing parallels between it and “skinny shaming” (not a term I use), but with a history of anorexia it has been disconcerting to realize that people view recover-ing as letting oneself go. Ultimately, weight is not a valid indicator of health because health is a broad, culturally specific term that refers to so much more than physiological processes. Beyond that, though, we are not morally obliged to owe anyone health. Fatness as a plot device won’t go away until we as a society realizes that.
