My reading comprehension is fine, thanks. The article is peppered with phrases like, “if you want it bad enough,” which are neoliberal red herrings used to blame people for bad policy. Wrt this comment, as someone who has been poor (and not “couch surfing” poor; “street-level homeless, shelter hopping, doing survival sex work, selling the clothes off my back for crack” poor), claiming to “understand” poverty because you “studied it considerably in academia” is laughable. I get that you’re writing for a niche audience and from your own (limited, it seems) life experience, and there’s nothing wrong with that. At least be honest with yourself/your readers, though, versus claim this is generalizable advice.
