It'd be useful to point out that the symptoms of CPTSD get mistaken for virtually every other 'severe' mental illness because prolonged trauma exposure fundamentally alters one's nervous system and makes self-regulation difficult. I think that's pretty critical, given the stigma surrounding bipolar disorders, BPD, schizophrenia, etc., which are more often than not the manifestations of trauma.
