I’m baffled that you appear vaguely progressive (beyond the cringe-y novel premise, that is), and yet don’t see the same social forces at work in Canada. If you’ve always had your medical needs met by the state, think unfettered capitalism isn’t entrenched here, and don’t see how socialism applies only to those in power – congratulations, I guess?
