I like this, and I agree with much of what you’ve said. I know that personally, writing is life affirming and often keeps me going amid very difficult circumstances. That said, I’m also aware that the ability to write (or engage in any labor, really) without considering compensation is a privilege. Many people may be phenomenal writers who would benefit from doing so, but cycles of poverty, homelessness, etc., interfere with one’s ability to even consider doing so.
